The Newcomer

The months have passed,
since that day.
Of the experience shown,
by my two large loves.

The unbridled eagerness,
of the stallion.
The seemingly quiet acceptance,
of the mare.

Both of them joined,
but for a brief time.
Now, the time is coming,
for a new one to join,
their world and mine.

The land that awaits this one,
is filled with wonders.
Long grass waves in the meadow,
the trees are big and give cool shade,
in the heat of hot days.
Pure water flows in streams,
and contentment abounds.

To you, little one,
this world offers much.
But there is something more
then what you can see.
There is a special air
of this place.

You will never see it,
but you will feel the presence,
of its existence.
For this place has love,
love in abundance.
All encomapassing love,
like a warm blanket,
on a winter night,
is the feeling of this love.

Watched and cared for,
nothing too good for you.
For you are the first,
from two others,
to come here.
This is to be,
your home.
Always.

Closer the time comes,
she who carries you is ready.
You will come on this day,
a shiver in a sac,
that kept you warm,
but is nothing,
compared to the love,
she who carried you,
will show you.

She will run with you,
feed you when you hunger,
nuzzle you at night,
standing before danger
so that you will be safe.

She will teach you,
in her way.
Of many things,
Learn well young one,
for the time comes,
all to swiftly,
that you will part,
from she that carried you.

From your sire,
he will be watching.
To see how you grow,
he will give encouragment,
in a rough way.
But that is his way,
the way he was taught.

But from his teaching,
you will learn also.
Useful it is,
learn it well.

The time has come now,
a burst of water announcing,
the time of new life comes!

She strains,
in giving life,
to the new one.
It comes out,
slowly, slowly, slowly,
to the floor.

Even in her pain,
she is gentle.
Then, the newcomer is out!
The hope for tomorrow
has arrived!

Sing all you birds!
Sing with the joy of life,
the wonder that none can
explain to any!
Sing out for the newcomer!

Sing out fields!
Wave the grass and
puff it well,
for the newcomer,
when it is tired,
and wants to rest.
Sing out fields!

Sing out sky, moon and sun!
Another has joined this world.
To you, big white moon,
it will look in wonder.
To you, blue sky,
it will see the puffy clouds
and know the rain you give.
Finally, to you, bright sun,
it will look to you for warmth,
on chilly days.
Dissappoint it not!

She stands still now,
all the strain gone.
The newcomer lays on the floor,
weak from the short journey,
it has taken so long to walk.

What?.....
What?.....
She looks at me,
there is something.
What?.....
I look to the newcomer,
then it comes.

Chest rise!
Eyes open!
Legs move, twitch!
ANYTHING!!!

Race to the small form,
lift it up,
breath the air little one!
Open your eyes!
Live!
Damn it
LIVE!

Beg to the gods,
let it live!
It is a newcomer,
it needs to live!

But breath it never does,
the eyes stay closed,
the small legs stay still.

She who carried you,
comes close.
She knows the truth,
from another place,
comes a sound,
he knows as well.

Weep all, for this,
the newcomer.
Sun darken, moon hide
clouds dissappear.
For it will see you not.
Stream dry, grass die,
for it will not come to you.

Now, standing we three,
we give you charge,
ground that is its bed.
Care for it well,
this tiny body.
For it is given to you,
to watch over.
With our sorrow,
with our sadness,
for all time, and,
eternity.

In another place,
we'll meet.
To that,
we await.
But for now,
we walk from the ground,
weeping for the newcomer.

But the dreams still live,
another will come,
and again the joy of life,
will start.
But for now,
we weep.
For now.
